The dust has settled in Johnson Valley, California, as the off-road community witnessed an impressive display of skill and determination at the 2024 King of the Hammers. Over 530 teams gathered to take on the challenging races, with unexpected triumphs and strategic comebacks making this year’s event truly memorable. One standout success story was the triumphant return of Team Camburg.

Development and Testing

Following their experiences at the Parker 400, where power steering issues surfaced, Team Camburg took a proactive approach. Assembling a dedicated team of experts, they sought a quick solution to their power steering challenges. The result? A complete revamp of the power steering system, incorporating innovative products breaking into the off-road scene.

Although not initially on their race schedule, the team decided to put their revamped setup to the test before the Mint 400. Packing up, they headed to King of the Hammers, seizing the opportunity to evaluate not only the new power steering system but also their newly developed Camburg monobloc racing brake calipers.

The Prologue Race – Saturday

The King of the Hammers Desert Challenge unfolded over two days, commencing with a prologue race on Saturday. Kyle Jergenson navigated a course that presented a mix of tight uphill rocky sections and higher-speed desert terrain. Jergenson’s skillful performance secured a 2nd place qualification, just 10 seconds behind the 1st place T2 qualifier. The newly implemented power steering and brake calipers proved flawless, setting the stage for Sunday’s main race.

T2 Spec Truck Race – Sunday

Sunday’s main event saw Kyle and co-driver Shawn starting 6th but quickly advancing to take the lead in their class. Maneuvering through challenging terrain and battling dust, the team displayed unwavering determination, crossing the finish line and clinching victory in the T2 Spec truck category. With combined times from both races, Team Camburg secured 3rd place overall, considering the Unlimited trucks and buggies.

Gratitude to Sponsors

Team Camburg expressed immense gratitude to their sponsors, including Scosche, Sig Sauer, 5.11 Tactical, KMC Wheels, Rigid Industries, Bully Dog, Decked, Optima Batteries, BF Goodrich, Rugged Radios, Scrubblade, Steel-It, FK Rod Ends, and R3Di.

Next Up: The Mint 400

With the King of the Hammers triumph behind them, Team Camburg now shifts their focus to preparing for the upcoming Mint 400, scheduled for March 6th-8th in Las Vegas, Nevada. Off-road enthusiasts are encouraged to follow the team’s social media channels for exclusive behind-the-scenes content as they gear up for the next iconic race.
